Curvaceous Magazine Launches Plus-Size Model Search

Internet Reality Series Will Follow Cover-girl Competition

Los Angeles, CA February 2, 2004 Do you have what it takes to be the next plus-size Cover Girl? CurvaceousMagazine.com, an online e-zine for men, is accepting applications for a new internet reality series, "The Curvaceous Magazine Model Search."

Premiering in April, the 12-episode program will air on-line and will follow 24 model hopefuls as they vie for the cover of the August, 2004 edition of Curvaceous Magazine. "We are looking for gorgeous and sexy plus models," says Michael L. Belanger, the magazine's publisher, "girls who are ready to show the world just how sexy curves can be." Application information is available at www.curvaceousmagazine.com.

Prospective models must be age 18 or over and size 14 and up. They will also need to apply in person at one of several open call events in Southern California before March 31, 2004. "While the search is open to all U.S. residents," says Nanette Davis, the show's producer, "we are obviously expecting most of our entries to come from the Los Angeles area this first season."

The model search will 'air' on-line, combining a reality TV show with an interactive website. "Because we are doing this show on the Internet, we have an amazing ability to interact with our viewers," says Davis. "In April, before the show airs, visitors to CurvaceousMagazine.com will have the opportunity to vote for all the contestants." The top 20 vote-getters, plus 4 wild-card spots chosen by the judges, will begin a 12-week competition to earn the August cover.

During the show the 24 semi-finalists will be judged on their performance in several real-world modeling assignments. "We're definitely throwing them in the deep end," says Belanger. "Those who can swim move on to the next round." Belanger himself is the first judge. The identities of the three remaining judges are a closely guarded secret, but according to Davis, "they will all be very knowledgeable about the industry, they will all be women, and they will all be plus-size."

Company Information:

Originally launched on August 8, 2001 as an exploration of plus size beauty, Curvaceous Magazine was forced into hiatus when publisher and photographer Michael L. Belanger came down with a slight case of almost dying. Now back at the magazine's helm with a new heart valve and a really cool scar, Belanger looks forward to making the world a curvier place, one cover-girl at a time.
